2018 Hurricane Preparedness
July 9th, 2018 • Blog
Hurricane season is upon us, and while we hope for the best, we must always be prepared for the potential threat of a storm. We encourage our customers to adequately prepare for the season by engaging in storm preparedness efforts and developing emergency plans to ensure their safety, and that of their families and their properties.
While the safety and security of you and your family should always be your priority, it is also important to educate yourself about the tools and services that we provide in the event of a natural disaster.
To better prepare, we suggest the following:
Keep Cash on Hand If a storm is coming, visit your nearest branch or ATM as soon as possible and withdraw enough money to cover expenses for at least 3-5 days. With your MasterCard Debit Card, you can make free withdrawals or access your account balance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at any ATM displaying the Presto, Money Pass and/or Pulse Select* logos. Remember, if the power goes out, ATMs will not be working.

Protect Financial Documents In the event of a disaster, you will need identification and financial documents to begin the recovery process. Safeguard important documents in a waterproof storage container or on a computer storage device. Important document include:
- Personal identification (driver’s licenses, birth certificates, military IDs, passports, etc.)
- Financial account information (checking, savings, retirement and investment accounts, credit/debit cards)
- Insurance policies on all personal property, including appraisals and lists and photos of valuable items.
- Ownership or leasing documentation for homes and vehicles (deeds, titles, registrations, rental agreements, etc.) All health and medical insurance documentation
Know the Details of Your Insurance Coverage Check your insurance to make sure your coverage adequately addresses your needs for both your home and commercial properties. This is especially important if your property’s flood map has changed.
Follow Marquis Bank on Social Media Status updates are available via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, which serve as real-time communication tools. You can also visit our website for important information and updates. In the event of a storm, we will continuously communicate updates before, during and after the storm until South Florida is no longer under any threat.
Again, we encourage you to develop your personal emergency plan now, not when the threat of a storm is imminent, and be ready to implement that plan in case South Florida is threatened by a storm.
