Chairman of the Board/CEO
Javier Holtz was named Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Marquis Bank in 2010. Mr. Holtz has over 20 years of banking experience with state and nationally chartered banks. He has served in various executive positions, including President of Capital Factors, Inc. and Executive Vice President, Regional Senior Credit Officer and Chief Credit Officer of Union Planters Bank, N.A.
Mr. Holtz joined Union Planters Bank, N.A. in 1998, immediately following the acquisition of Capital Bank by Union Planters Corporation. He also served in various executive positions with Capital Bank, including Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer from 1994 to 1998, Senior Vice President, Assistant Division Manager, Domestic Credit Division from 1992 to 1994 and Senior Vice President, Regional Manager, Retail Banking Division from 1988 to 1992.
Under Mr. Holtz’s leadership, Marquis Bank has seen consecutive profitable quarters that include assets reaching over $300 million. In April 2014, the U.S. Treasury Department reported that Marquis Bank achieved the largest increase in qualifying small business loans among 14 Florida banks, and ranked fifth in the country out of 298 institutions.
Mr. Holtz also serves Vice Mayor of Indian Creek Village, Florida and has served as a Councilman for the Village since March 2008. He is also involved with the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation.
President/Chief Lending Officer
A pioneer and highly-respected leader in the Banking industry, Miriam Lopez serves as President and Chief Lending Officer at Marquis Bank. Her career in the banking industry has spanned over three decades and she continues to prove herself and break barriers in a predominantly male industry. In 2010, Mrs. Lopez made history as the first Cuban-American woman President of the Florida Bankers Association.
Mrs. Lopez has been a director of FHL Bank of Atlanta since 2008 and is currently Chair of the Collateral and Member Services Committee, member of the Risk Enterprise Committee and Housing Committee. She also sits on the Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council (CDIAC) for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Locally, Mrs. Lopez sits on the Board of Directors for Doctors Hospital.
In addition to her professional accolades and industry memberships, Mrs. Lopez is philanthropically committed to the community, more specifically, the education of young adults in South Florida.
Executive Vice President/Chief Financial Officer
Filip Feller was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Marquis Bank in October of 2016. He is responsible for overseeing the accounting, operations, compliance and IT functions of the Bank.
Mr. Feller has over 30 years of financial services experience, and most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Capital Bank in Rockville, Maryland. A native of South Florida, Filip’s prior experience included senior executive positions at Executive National Bank and Monticello Bank.
Executive Vice President/Senior Lending Officer
David DiMuro brings more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry to Marquis Bank. As Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer, he is responsible for originating new business relationships, as well as managing the existing loan portfolio.
Prior to joining Marquis Bank in 2009, Mr. DiMuro served as Senior Vice President of MetroBank of Dade County, where he managed a loan portfolio of $110 million including owner occupied income producing real estate, asset based equipment, letters of credit, revolving lines of credit and small business loans. From 1995 to 2007, he served as Senior Vice President and Commercial Lending Director of Internal Audit for Commercial Bank of Florida, which within that time, was acquired by Colonial Bank.
Mr. DiMuro sits on Marquis Bank’s Loan Review Committee, as well as Profit and Service Charge Committee.
Executive Vice President/Managing Director of Professional & Executive Banking
Philip Gassman is Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Professional & Executive Banking for Marquis Bank. He is responsible for developing new business, managing existing customer relationships, as well as managing a team of Bankers responsible for new business development and customer relationships. Mr. Gassman also oversees the branch staff and for the Bank’s overall delivery and management of the client service experience.
Mr. Gassman has over 20 years of experience as a financial services professional, including 8 years with Gibraltar Private Bank and Trust as Senior Vice President and Market Manager, More recently, he served executive positions with Coconut Grove Bank and Professional Bank.
Mr. Gassman sits on the executive board of The Miracle League of Miami, as well as the board of Temple Judea. In 2013, he was appointed by Governor Rick Scott to sit on the board The Early Learning Coalition of Miami- Dade and Monroe Counties, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring early care and education for children.
Executive Vice President/ Market President
Steven Sanzone joined Marquis Bank as Market President in February of 2018. In his role, he will be responsible for the overall market strategy and business development of the Bank in both Broward and Palm Beach counties. Mr. Sanzone brings more than 40 years of financial services experience to Marquis, particularly in the commercial real estate and community banking arenas. Throughout his career, he has closed over one billion dollars in real estate transactions and has structured complex financing vehicles as large as $100MM. He is a graduate of Florida State University and holds an MBA from Nova Southeastern University.
Senior Vice President/Director of Operations
As Senior Vice President and Director of Operations, Frank Casal oversees the operations of both Marquis Bank branch locations ensuring a consistent client experience. He is also responsible for managing bank operations including deposit, loan and treasury management.
Mr. Casal began his banking career with Washington Mutual in 1998, and went on to work for Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust as Vice President and Branch Manager. Most recently, he served as Vice President and Branch Manager at Professional Bank, where he oversaw two branches and trained the staff in customer service.
Mr. Casal is the Chair of Marquis Bank’s Profit Improvement Committee, and also sits on the Platform Operations Committee.
Rosary Plana Falero
Senior Vice President/Professional Executive and Commercial Banking
Rosary Plana Falero brings more than 25 years of local banking experience to Marquis Bank. As Senior Vice President in Professional/Executive and Commercial Banking, she will focus on middle-market and real estate lending as well as in expanding relations with professionals and executives in the South Florida community.
Prior to joining Marquis, Ms. Falero served as Executive Vice President and Head of Private and Retail Banking at Coconut Grove Bank, where she was responsible for the development and strategic direction of the Private Banking division. She has also held executive positions at City National Bank and BankUnited. A graduate of Florida International University, Ms. Falero earned a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance
She currently serves as the United Way Women’s Leadership Chair and is also a long-time volunteer with Women of Tomorrow.
Senior Vice President/ Aventura Market Manager
Janet Henfield is Senior Vice President and Aventura Market Manager for Marquis Bank and responsible for developing the Bank’s presence in the Aventura, Golden Beach and Sunny Isles Beach markets.
Janet has over twenty years of experience in banking and finance in the areas of International Private Banking and Compliance in Nassau, Bahamas, New York and Miami, Florida. Most recently, she served as Vice President and Relationship Manager at Bank Leumi in Aventura, where she worked for the past 11 years.
Ms. Henfield earned a Bachelor’s in Finance with a minor in International Business and a PMBA in International Business from Florida International University.
Senior Vice President/Commercial Lending Officer
Mark L. Huard is Senior Vice President and Commercial Lending Officer. In this role, Mr, Huard is responsible for the development of business and commercial real estate loans as well as depository relationships. Prior to joining Marquis, he served as Senior Vice President and Commercial Real Estate Manager at Stonegate Bank. He also served in executive positions at Community Bank of Broward and Union Planters Bank. Mr. Huard is a University of Florida graduate and earned a diploma from the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.
Senior Vice President/Chief Credit Officer
Wayne Miller is Senior Vice President and Credit Manager for Marquis Bank. In this role, he is responsible for managing a diversified portfolio of commercial loans and performing detailed analyses of business financial and background information to determine credit worthiness.
Mr. Miller’s banking experience spans three decades. Prior to joining the Marquis team, he held management positions at Capital Bank and Union Bank. He also served as Senior Credit Administrator and Loan Portfolio Manager at Mercantil Commercebank and as Credit Manager at Intercredit Bank.
Mr. Miller is a Columbia University graduate and earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Seton Hall University.
Senior Vice President/Director of SBA Lending Division
Ricky Navarro was appointed Senior Vice President and Director of the SBA Lending Division of Marquis Bank in 2014. A seasoned SBA expert, Ricky Navarro brings extensive knowledge of Small Business Administration (SBA) Loans to Marquis Bank. He is well–versed in the implementation of the SBA loan programs, including writing SBA Lending Policy & Procedures, with focus in SBA 7(a), 504, SBA Express, and Small Loan Advantage.
Prior to joining Marquis Bank, Mr. Navarro was a Senior Vice President and SBA Lending Manager with BankUnited, N.A., where he restored the bank’s participation in SBA loan programs. He was also responsible for implementing SBA Lending Divisions at Intercredit Bank, Community West Bank and Banco Popular North America.
Senior Vice President/Controller
Michael Teproff was appointed Senior Vice President and Controller of Marquis Bank in 2007. He is responsible for managing the bank’s accounting operations, including the preparation and analyzation of all financial reporting.
Mr. Teproff has more than 30 years of accounting experience in the banking industry. Prior to working at Marquis Bank, he worked at several financial institutions, including Jefferson Bancorp for 17 years, and Bank of Coral Gables, where he served as Senior Vice President and Controller.
A graduate of Boston University, Mr. Teproff holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration for Accounting.
As Vice President and Branch Administrator & Branch Manager, Monica Garbati oversees the operations of both Marquis Bank branch locations ensuring a consistent client experience. She is also responsible for growing and establishing banking relationships with the professional sector. Ms. Garbati brings over ten years of industry experience, most recently serving as Assistant Branch Manager at Professional Bank. She has also held similar positions at Coconut Grove Bank and Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust. A graduate of Florida International University, Ms. Garbati holds a Bachelor of Arts in Finance.
Vice President/Director of Human Resources
As Vice President and Director of Human Resources, Debbie Kuhn is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the Human Resources department. She brings more than 25 years of human resources experience to Marquis Bank. Ms. Kuhn most recently served as Vice President, Director of Human Resources at Stonegate Bank, where she was one of the original employees and helped the organization grow to nearly 500 employees. In 2016, Ms. Kuhn was named one of the South Florida Business Journal’s Power Leaders in Human Resources.
Vice President/ Regulatory Compliance Officer
Wanda Marin is Vice President and Regulatory Compliance Officer of Marquis Bank. In this role, Ms. Marin is responsible for ensuring overall conformity of the Bank’s Compliance and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) programs and adherence to all federal and state regulations and policies pertaining to the Bank. She also develops, manages and implements all training programs at Marquis. She began her banking career more than 16 years ago; most recently she served positions as Vice President BSA & AML Compliance Officer at Professional Bank, Assistant vice President Consumer Compliance Officer at Gibraltar Private, and Consumer Compliance and Identity Theft Officer at Hapolim Bank. She is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS). Mrs. Marin has attended Nova Southeastern University and American Bankers Association National Compliance School.
Vice President/Fort Lauderdale Banking Center Manager
Jerry Grace is Vice President and Fort Lauderdale Banking Center Manager for Marquis Bank. In this role, he is responsible for the overall management of the bank’s Fort Lauderdale branch, which will be opened shortly. Mr. Grace brings over thirty years of banking experience to Marquis Bank. He most recently served as Regional Retail Manager at Stonegate Bank.
Assistant Vice President/Aventura Branch Manager
Amy Reyes is Assistant Vice President and Aventura Branch Manager for Marquis Bank. Ms. Reyes brings over eleven years of banking experience to Marquis Bank. She most recently served as a Senior Relationship Manager at Bank of America. Ms. Reyes holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida International University.
